Money and banking examines the historical development of money, the banking system, and the Federal
Reserve in the United States. The course studies interest rate determination and how monetary policy
a/ects rates and the economy.
study short-term and long-term securities markets. In particular, we price and discuss the characteristics
characteristics and functions of depository institutions, investment intermediaries, and contractual savings
institutions. Finally, we examine the policy roles of domestic and international monetary authorities, such
as the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank.
