Mark Lennon History of East Asia Professor Wert Deus Destroyed – Discussion Questions 1.) The Japanese had mixed feelings regarding the acceptance of Christianity but for the large part, fiercely rejected it. Though there were some like Fabian in the text that did support it, the views of Hakuō were the ones taken on by the majority. 2.) Hakuō described in his religious debate many of the faults the Japanese saw in Christianity. He starts by stating that with the existence of Deus, there would have come a purpose for humans on earth yet he claimed there was none. He then challenges the idea that Deus would have created a universal religion for all humans to follow so as to avoid such religious disputes. His third argument objects to the beliefs that Deus was crucified for the sake of mankind. Here Hakuō takes a shot at Christians for worshiping Deus because in his mind, Deus was a fairly sentenced criminal who deserved to be crucified.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
