SCHOOL NUTRITION SERVICES 2 Article Summary The article seeks to provide an appropriate school nutrition program based on the Houston Independent School District perspective. This is attributed to a series of emails and phone calls by the parents regarding the school's diet's health. Notably, the parents had noted increased sugar content, especially on the breakfast, and that this was not healthy for the students. As a result, the institution closely monitored the student's breakfast sugar content. The institution also claims to have strictly followed the Department of Agriculture regulations by avoiding incorporate sugar into their foods under the HHFKA of 2010 (Lengyel et al., (2015). Herein, this article presents a noted problem concerning sugar in breakfast and provides students with a balanced diet. The article elaborates in detail the time the school breakfast program began and its importance. This pilot program began in 1966, then permanently authorized by congress in 1975.
