Assignment 2 David Toledo ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS 5. See comments on page 4 and 5 of the Output. The balanced data set shows that the results of MEANS and LSMEANS are the same. See page 4 and 5 of output. 6. The value of the standard error used by the LSD option of the MEANS statements is SE = LSD/t => SE = 8.99/2.11 => SE= 4.26 (see page 3 of output). This standard error is different from the standard errors provided by the STDERR option of the LSMEANS statement (even though the comparisons are the same) because they are standard errors of different estimators. LSD compares means and then calculates standard errors versus STDERR which considers treatment means accounting for treatment differences. LSD computes values, PDIFF computes test statistics. 7. See page 4 of output 8. a) See pages 9 and 10 of the Output. b) Page 9 and 10 show values differ because we have an unbalanced dataset. c) SE = √ (53.81/5) + (53.81/4) = 4.92 t = (53-34) / 4.92 = 3.86 LSD = 3.86 * 4.92 = 18.99 d) SAS COMPUTED
