1. Spend some time daydreaming about your vacation, and keep notes in a Planning
Document as you do so. List your answers to the following questions:
o Where will you go—Europe? South America? Africa? Asia?
I plan to visit Cape Town (South Africa), New Delhi (India) and Istanbul (Turkey).
o How long will you be away?
The trip will commence on April 1, 2021 and will end on April 14, 2021. This will be a total
of 14 days including the departure and return days.
o How many people will accompany you? Are any of them seniors or children
(who may qualify for discounts)?
On this trip, I will be accompanied by my spouse and as a couple, we will get to enjoy
discounts especially in hotel accommodation.
o What would you like to do—see historical and cultural sights? Go hiking or
mountain climbing? Relax on a beach in the Caribbean? Take a guided tour or cruise?
Since this will be a very short trip, we will undertake minimum activities as follows:
(i) Cape Town, South Africa: Visit the Robben Island for a day, spend another day touring
the city on a guided tour bus.
(ii) New Delhi, India: A full day guided tour of the Elephanta caves as well as a guided
Mumbai City tour.
(iii) Istanbul, Turkey: Visit Hagia Sophia Mosque and the Museum of archeology bot in
Istanbul.
o Will you stay in hotels or camp out?
We will stay in hotels and only pay for accommodation as we plan to eat out in nearby
restaurants. This is cheaper because we will not spend the whole day in the hotel.

The following are the costs of travelling in regards to the trip.
a) Tourist visas
(i)
South Africa: According to an online visa service[ CITATION htt211 \l 1033 ],
Kenyans are exempted for a visa but they have to acquire E-visa at a cost of $25
per person.
(ii)
India: The Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Mombasa Kenya lists the cost
of tourist visa to be $100 per person [ CITATION htt212 \l 1033 ].
(iii)
Turkey: The Turkish Embassy in Nairobi lists the cost of tourist visa for Kenyans
to Turkey as costing $50 per person [ CITATION htt213 \l 1033 ].
b) Air Fare
(i)
From Nairobi to Cape Town, South Africa, one-way ticket costs $361. This is
according to an online ticketing platform, Expedia ([ CITATION htt214 \l 1033 ].
(ii)
Expedia gives the cost of air ticket from Cape Town to Mumbai a cost of $343
[ CITATION htt215 \l 1033 ].
(iii)
The cost of air ticket from Mumbai to Turkey is $336 per person and this is
according to Expedia [ CITATION htt216 \l 1033 ].
