Mark Wojoski Professor Sutton Dance 101 6 April 2006 “Catharsis” I thoroughly enjoyed the ballet performed by the USC Dance Company on Thursday night, March 30 th . They performed “Ballet Mozart and More” featuring “Catharsis.” The ballet was not what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised the entertainment the ballet had to offer. From the amazing ballet moves to the different sets, spectacular costumes, delightful humor, and incredible special effects, my first ballet had me moved in more ways than one. Throughout most of the performance the sets were simple so the audience could focus on the ballet dancers. However, in one set there was a bed and a table that the dancers utilized while performing. During this dance, between a man and a woman, they made very sexual moves and the black and white colors complemented this mood nicely. In one set, the director has placed a bathtub in the center of the stage and three sheets that create the images of shadows using the lighting around the bathtub. This act I found very
