Passive processes - no ATP. Kinetic energy from constant motion of molecules, and  concentration gradients Simple Diffusion is affected by - Size of particles temperature polarity of substance being transported Types of passive processes - Simple Diffusion  Osmosis Facilitated Diffusion Filtration Active Processes - require ATP. Used usually to transport items too large for membrane,  not soluble in liquid, or against a concentration gradient Types of Active Processes - Active Transport Vesicular transport: endocytosis exocytosis Concentration Gradients - a gradual change in the concentration of solutes in a solution as a function of distance through a solution. Always travels high to low to obtain  equilibrium. Solution - a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances Solute - the dissolved substance in a solution Solvent - a liquid substance capable of dissolving other substances

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
