1. Define Nuclear family and elaborate on how it became the norm . Is this still the traditional family form in the United States? If not, what other forms of 'family' have emerged and what are the social causes for their emergence? Explain. A nuclear family consists of a mother, father, and their children. This became the norm in the united states when children were able to move out of their parents’ homes because jobs were widely available and independence was normal. It is still the traditional family in the united states though extended facilities have also become more common and accepted. More and more families are moving home with their parents to save money, and this has become common. Becoming close to my boyfriends parents is very important to be because at some time in our life, I believe we will become an extended family. I believe my boyfriends parents will live with us as they age. It is important for both Chris and I to care for our parents as they age at home.
