Christopher Strevel English Summaries 9/1/2008 Summaries of the 34 th and 35 th Chapters of David Copperfield Chapter 34~ In this chapter’s beginning, David writes to Agnes and tells her of his engagement to Dora Spenlow, but says nothing of Steerforth, who had been the cause of so much grief at Yarmouth. On coming home, David finds that Traddles had called two or three times and had been told by Peggotty that David was not at home. Dickens also describes the relationship that Peggotty had with Mrs. Crupp as one of antagonism. Traddles makes his way to David’s room through all the pitfalls designed by Mrs. Crupp in order to kill Peggotty and the two friends discuss the young women that they are engaged to. Traddles describes Sophy’s family life in depth and then the conversation turns to several articles that belonged to Sophy and Traddles but that had been taken possession of because of not being fully paid for. Peggotty retrieves the precious articles,
