Empty Promises The old city of Jerusalem contains three of the holiest sites for Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Jews and Muslims have fought over the city of Jerusalem for thousands of years in order to gain control over this city and its surrounding area. In 1947, the United Nations voted to partition the land with the goal of peaceful interactions between a new Palestinian and Jewish state. Instant refusal by most Palestinians spurred into war in effort to combat the partition. In the last 60 years since the UN vote, Palestinians fought many lost battles against Israel and today we have the aftermath of such a bitter history. The film Promises exposed two characteristics of the Palestinian and Israeli turmoil: the religious tensions and the oppression of the Palestinian people. The film Promises reveals that the fuel for the burning fire between Israelis and Palestinians is proof from religion for the righteous occupation of Palestine. The film shows how the children of Israel and Palestine are constantly living in revulsion.
