North and South America Identify regional Trading Blocs Caribbean Community ( CARICOM) Union of South American Nations (Unasur/Unasul) North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)* Central American Common Market (CACM)* Andean Community Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA)* Latin American Integration Association (ALADI)* Southern Common Market* History of Trading Blocs Caribbean Community ( CARICOM) Established by the Treaty of Chaguaramas which came into effect on August 1 st, 1972. The first four signatories were Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago. Structure: Made up like a government structure Union of South American Nations (Unasur/Unasul) It’s a fledgling supranational and intergovernmental union that will unite two existing free-trade organizations- Mercosur and the Andean Community- as part of a continuing process of South American intergration. It is modeled on the European Union North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) The trade bloc in North America created by the North American Free Trade Agreement and its two supplements, the North American Agreement on Environmental cooperation (NAAEC) and The North American Agreement on Labor
