PROFESSIONAL CAREER ACTION PLAN2Professional Career Action PlanIntroductionIn this paper I will address my professional goals and what job I plan to have in the healthcare field. I will discuss the skills that I currently have and the skills that I need to alter. Also, I will show the steps that are needed in order to reach these goals. There are many avenues that professionals look at in order to achieve their goals. There are several organizations that are out there to help students achieve their goals by way of internships and volunteering. My professional goals are as follows; I have completed my bachelor’s degree in health administration. I would like to further my education in public health and nursing. Once I have completed my master’s I public health I would like to go on to nursing school to become a registered nurse. My employment goal is to work for the government. I would love to work for health and human services and specialized in policies and procedures. I believe that preventive care starts with educating health care providers, patients and ancillary workers. Health administrators have varying roles which is dependent on the size of the health organization. I choose to obtain my undergrad as a health administrator because I have great organization skills and leadership qualities. I have decided to specialize in health management so that I can present ideas and to help implement programs for patients. In the past I had no idea what health administrators did on a daily basis. Upon learning their job description I was very impressed and knew that I wanted a career in health care administration. I have been told in the past that I pay attention to detail and have great managerial skills. The job that I plan on having in the career sector is working for the CDC or the department of Health and Human services. I also looked into the Veterans Administration hospital and have a desire to help our fellow soldiers live a respectful and peaceful life as much as possible (Association of Schools of Public Health, 2005).
