Peter MurrQSO-3257/3/2021Jason Clarke in the TEDxPerth video brought up some good characteristics of change and how aquality organization would embrace it. The first characteristic that he brought up was authorship versesownership. When there is only ownership in an organization, things do not change. It is not enough forpeople in an organization to own a task because it is a task given to them by someone else. For changeto really happen and have an effect, people need to have authorship of the task. Authorship can behelping a person or organization come up with the idea to make a change. The concept of kaizen isexactly this. “In lean manufacturing, kaizen refers to brainstorming ideas and implementing dailyactivities that continuously improve processes. It involves all employees – from the higher-ups to plant-floor workers”(Trout, 2019).Since the employees are helping develop the ideas, there is a sense ofauthorship, and the employees want to continue improving on these ideas.
