View of purpose
of reading
My View of purpose of reading has changed because in
this class we have read a few different types of articles.
The article types were long some were research studies
and some journals. I have learned different ways of
reading different types of articles to better understand
them and not be bored as I tend to stray away from
longer textbook like readings. Now I understand how
to highlight key points and pay attention to the details.

• Skimming- Reviewing a quick summary of the text
• Mental annotation- Highlighting key points and text I
don’t understand
• Reading out loud- helps hear the text providing a
different understanding
