Chantel Wynter My Writer’s Autobiography To start from the beginning my relationship with literacy came at an early age whereas I first learned to read when I was a small child. I was giving a book by my parents, taught a couple of things and from that point on I took an interest and a liking to reading like I have done for so long now, always picking up books without having to be told to do so. In some way I was like Malcolm X the way he became fascinated with reading was like how I was but I wasn’t reading the same type of books because I was only a child. Just like Malcolm I read everyday whenever I could. I learned to read before I even entered school but unlike Malcolm I started reading before doing any form of writing hence beginning my relationship with literature. Malcolm X acquired his knowledge and education through his own antics of reading and writing the whole dictionary. This was the beginning for him where he started out gaining an education in his own way. From copying the whole dictionary he was able to gain the knowledge of new words that helped him gain more understanding when he was reading his letters and books. Books started to become of special interest
