Is Capital Punishment Effective?“Should we continue practicing Capital Punishment or the Death Penalty?” is a questionthat has been in numerous debates over the years. Some people believe that it is essential that wecontinue this punishment practice to deter the criminals so that others are hesitant to commitcrimes, especially serious ones. However, others argue that this practice is not effective, but it israther a way society justifies their revenge. In this paper, I will go over the definition of capitalpunishment, its original purposes and the reasons why people think it should be abolished.To begin with, according to the Britannica, capital punishment is the practice of executingcriminals who are sentenced to death after being convicted by the court of a criminal offense(Capital Punishment - Arguments for and against Capital Punishment, n.d.). Popular examples ofserious crimes committed include rape, murder, treason, arson, etc. Depending on the severity ofeach case, the judge would determine whether the offenders will be executed.
