Nate SchmidtProfessor Russo 4-13-12PHED 375Coaching ObservationsAfter taking a step back to really think and examine my coaching observations, I can honestly say I learned a lot from the whole project. I noticed how different coaches communicated with players and how it varied depending on the relationship between the players and coach. I was also able to see different styles and philosophies, which allowed me to comparedifferent coaches and how they coached. One major thing I looked at during these observations was the types of relationships the coaches had with the players because I believe that the relationships you have with your players are very important when coaching.The first coach I observed was Thad Matta the head men’s basketball coach at Ohio StateUniversity. I also watched William McKinney, the head girl’s varsity basketball coach at Columbus Africentric High School (OH); Nate Oats, the head men’s varsity basketball coach at Romulus High School (MI); Jay Bee Bethea, the head girl’s basketball coach of the AAU team All Ohio Black 17u.
