1 Spyware and Adware an evil tag team People use the Internet ever day for various reasons ranging from research to shopping. Throughout the entire process, many things pass through their mind, but one thing that most of them do not think is “There might be someone gaining access to my private information”. Whenever someone enters information on the Internet there is a possibility that someone might attempt to obtain it. Some of the worse techniques used to steal information are the use of spyware and adware by companies. Because companies use spyware and adware to covertly obtain potential customer’s personal information there should be more done to help protect one’s privacy on the Internet. Some people argue that not all companies use spyware or adware for wicked reasons. However, as good as the company’s intentions maybe the fact still stands that they are covertly invading one’s personal property to learn something that someone may not want them to know. In an article in January 31 st edition of Newsweek Malcolm Beith can be quoted as saying, “Spyware now infects 80 percent of PCs in America.” Companies trick people into downloading and installing software that any normal person
