Origin A. First Appearance 1. End of 18 th Century 2. Warriors used to protect lords and courtiers. 3. Used light armor and fought on foot and on horseback. 4. Was given name “Samurai” which means “those who serve” B. First Use 1. Used to fight off northern barbarians known as the “Emishi”.
