Consider the title what does it tell you about the piece? Consider the date what is going on/has occurred in history at this time? Mark up the text!
Circle, highlight, make margin notes if you're afraid to do it in the book, make a photocopy (or three!) to use instead. Pay attention to grammar
What is the verb? Who or what do the images correlate to? ...
