Michael Chenette TR 104 9:30am November 20, 2007 Newspaper Report The paper that I chose to review is The Washington Post , dated November 7 th , 2007. The four sections that I used were the papers main front section, Metro, Style, and Business. On this particular day, the paper included the results to the Maryland elections. As a result, just above the masthead of the paper in a yellow box and in big bold letters was a big check mark with the words “Maryland Elections Results”. This was a big topic amongst Marylanders, which definitely would attract people to buy the paper. Also in the front section are six stories. The dynamic symmetry of the paper is very appealing, with a big picture right above the banner headline. When people are looking to buy a paper, they will only see the top half of the front section. In this papers top half, the three main stories involved a problem with the “Nationals” and DC, Mexico’s rain problem, and Democrats winning control of Virginia’s Senate. Right there are only three stories but
