Blue Nile Company History Seattle jeweler Doug Williams started company in 1995 named Internet Diamonds. Early 1999 went into business with Mark Vadon and they changed the name to Blue Nile. Thought the name sounded more elegant and upscale.

Blue Nile Company History In 2007 the company lunched their website in Canada and United Kingdom. International sales increased from to 17 million in 2007 to 33 million in 2009. 2007 sold a ring worth 1.5 million dollars over the web. Struggled in 2008 but rebounded nicely in 2009.
