SIOP® Lesson: Focus on Comprehensible Input Your name: Rachel Aebig Content Area/Topic: Science/ the water cycle Grade/Proficiency Level: 5 th / intermediate NYS Standards: Standard 4:  Students will understand and apply scientific concepts, principles, and theories pertaining to the physical setting and living environment and recognize the historical development of ideas in science. Key Vocabulary: Precipitation, condensation, evaporation, water vapor, cycle. Visuals/Resources/Supplementary Materials: *Activity making links to prior learning: * (CI feature 3)The students have already learned about the properties of water (solid liquid and gas)* the teacher will explain that they will be learning about the water cycle but before they do they will review the states of water. The teacher brings out three dishes. The first dish is half filled with water. The second dish has an ice cube. The third dish is covered with a wet paper towel.
