Historical Perspective 1. Religions (Sexual morality is often under the purview of religions) a. General things to get from discussions i. Religions do not all have the same view on sex. ii. Some religions have both male and female gods. 1. There isn’t a monotheistic religion where that one god is a  girl. 2. These gods enjoy sex. 2. Phoenicians a. Had a goddess of agriculture. i. People would come to her temple to have sex with her so that their  crops could grow. 1. They actually had sex with the temple priestess who then  transferred that joy to the goddess, who would let the crops  grow. ii. Christians get the word “Easter” from a goddess of agriculture or  something. 3. Egypt a. Had a goddess named Isis 4. Greek a. Zeus was very horny so he came down as a swan to try to hook up with  this girl.   i. They had twins: Castor and Polix (???)

Hades fell in love with Persephoene and kidnapped her, which pissed off  her mom who went to Zeus about it and said that if he didn’t do  something, she’d kill Zeus’ chosen people… the Greeks, by not allowing  the crops to grow.  Just look this story up. c.
