Pat McRell Oasis 2/26 homework Being a high school student, I was always thinking about what I wanted to do when I graduated. I could get a job, enter the military, or just sit home on my couch all day and amount to nothing. None of these sounded too appealing to me. I was determined to make something of my life. I applied to college my junior year. Umass was my first choice and I was actually kind of surprised that I got accepted here. Throughout high school, I was always kind of interested in engineering. I applied to the engineering program here but was not accepted. Even though I didn’t make it in, I knew that if I tried hard enough in college, I could make it in. When I first got to college, everything seemed so new to me. I loved all the freedom that I could have at a place like this. The first week of school, I went to all of my classes and made sure that I got all of my homework done before I moved on to other things. I wanted to get good grades and to succeed in college. By the next few weeks, I had made a lot of friends around campus.
