Albert PaoVNFT056Case Study - Acute Burn InjuryDue 06/20/20211.Describe the interventions needed to care for A.N. on her arrival in the ED.a.The interventions that need to be implemented on the arrival for A.N in the EDare to obtain her history of injuries and all other hospitalizations records. This willallow us to know her background and what she has been exposed to prior. Thenwe will follow the ABCDE system which is Airway, Breathing,Circulation,Disability, and Extent. The first of this system is to check her airway and makesure to give the patient a 100% humidified oxygen therapy at 15 liters through anon-rebreather mask. We will then start pulse oximetry and continuous ECGmonitoring. After, we will insert an IV, 18 gauge or larger to begin fluidreplacement. While that is done, we can start to perform cardiovascular andneurological assessments. Then we will obtain baseline CBC, CMP, ABGs,carboxyhemoglobin levels and weight. We would also be giving analgesia.Remove non-adherent clothing and elevate burned limbs above the heart. Then,we will cover burned areas and insert an indwelling catheter and NG tube if thereis an order from the MD. Lastly, offering support to her and her family.2.Because you are concerned about smoke inhalation, what will you assess for in A.N.?a.I will assess burns around the head area such as face and neck to see if there isany cherry-red skin color. Her cough may have sputum that may be black, gray, orbloody. Inspect the oropharynx and vocal cords for any swelling and blisters.Observe the patient for dyspnea, difficulty swallowing, wheezing, restlessness, and stridor. Also, monitor for any neurological changes in the patient and otheraltered mental status, confusion, and decrease consciousness.
