Pancreas Understand the difference between benign and malignant tumors Benign- no danger to health Malignant- threatening to life, has a non homogenous surface, lymphatic invasion, ulceration of skin, necrosis, hemorrhaging, vessel invasion • Understand the terminology for cell growth and differentiation o Homeostasis- when cell division is equal with cell deal o Hypoplasia- when death exceeds division o Tumor- when division exceeds death

o Differentiation- The process by which cells or tissues undergo a change toward a more specialized form or function • Understand the process of metastasis o Transmission of pathogenic microorganisms or cancerous cells from an original site to one or more sites elsewhere in the body, usually by way of the blood vessels or lymphatics.
