 5/7/09   Lawrence v. Texas (2003) Case Info: Police were called to the home of John Lawrence after a neighbor  had called the police saying there was a weapons disturbance in a  private residence The police entered the home to find Lawrence and another adult  man, Tyson Garner, engaging in a private, consensual sexual act Lawrence and Garner were arrested, held overnight in jail, and  charged with violating Texas's anti-sodomy statute

 5/7/09   Precedent Bowers v. Hardwick (1986) This was a case dealing with a Georgia law that outlawed sodomy  with members of the same or opposite sex Supreme Court upheld the the law in a 5-4 ruling This case was overturned by  Lawrence v. Texas (2003) Romer v. Evans (1996) This case dealt with an amendment in the Colorado Constitution  that allowed discrimination of homosexuals
