Critical Thinking – Chapter 3 1. The Nile River was important to Egyptian society in many ways. For example, the  Nile River was a calm river even when it flooded because it flooded the same  time ever year and left fertile land behind when it receded. Because the Egyptians  had many gods, including a river god, they thought the gods loved them. This  shaped the way they viewed their leaders, religion, and afterlife. 2. Narmer is shown wearing both crowns of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. The necks of the two feline creatures are entwined. Horus holding a rope on the man- head papyrus shows Narmer’s control of both Upper and Lower Egypt. 3. Khafre rigidly upright on a throne. He is shown with a flawless body and a perfect face, regardless of his real age and appearance. This statue wasn’t made to look like his true self but was more to represent him. 4. How does the chest of Tutankhamen exemplify the standards of Egyptian art? 5. Egyptians believed that they needed to pack for they afterlife. This means that when they were buried they needed to be buried with all their stuff. Many Egyptian art  is buried because of this. They believed that if your body were damaged after you  died, your body in the afterlife would be damaged. To make sure this wasn’t a
