Alexa Popovich 3/10/13 Period: 6 Electricity Project The video we watched in class was about Soloban, a small village in Nepal about  60 km south of Mount Everest. In this village there was no electricity. In 2006 the BEF or Buren Education Foundation funded the construction of a hydroelectric power plant to  provide electricity for the people living in Soloban. This water-powered plant has enough energy to power 4 hair dyers and allows each house to have three 15-watt light bulbs.  One of the main reasons the power plant was built was to allow the school in Soloban,  which was also funded by BEF, to not have to use harmful kerosene lamps at night so the children could study. Not only can this new plant give the village electricity, but it can
