Berlin Blockade - U.S, USSR, GB, and france all controlled a little bit of occupied Germany and parts of Berlin - US, GB, and France made their own currency - USSR got mad and blocked road and rail traffic from the other 3 zones to Berlin - 11 month airlift began – western planes bringing food and fuel to their parts of Berlin - Blockade lifted in May of 1949 – Truman administration major victory - The Western part Berlin survived isolated in Eastern Germany until the Berlin wall came down in 1991 Mohammed Mossadegh - a nationalist who was elected as the top official of Iran - US did not like him b/c he nationalized the Anglo – Iranian Oil Company - US said he was a communist - The shahs of Iran removed from government because of it - US put pressure on the Iranian government - This is an example of how when the US did not like the government or person in power of a country. They would put pressure on the country to oust that government or official out of offices Dizzy Dean James Dean - Actor considered a rebel- big idol of teens
