INTRODUCTION TO GENDER AND WOMEN'S STUDIES IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES GWS/HDFS 260, SOC 220 Spring 2008 Sarah Projansky Guide to Studying for the Midterm The exam will be given during class, Wednesday 3/5 BRING: a number 2 pencil Review session : I will leave time on Monday 3/3 to answer questions you might have about any of the class material. There will be no formal review presentation. I will simply answer any questions that students bring to the class. The Exam: If material from the reading is also covered in lectures, there is a higher probability that it will be on the exam. However, any material from either lectures or required readings may be on the exam. All videos shown in class may also be on the exam. In short, study all the lectures, reading, and videos shown in lecture. The exam will consist of 40-50 multiple questions. Sample questions follow: In her essay, "Oppression," Marilyn Frye argues that: a. in general , women are oppressed, but men are not b. oppression is the same thing as suffering
