Irvin 1 Alexander M. Irvin Janet Johnson Judicial Review October 18 th , 2006 Alcohol 101 After visiting the virtual bar I drank 12 light beers, and 5 shots of straight vodka. My blood alcohol content was .156. I knew my content would be high, but I didn’t expect it to be dangerously high. It took nine hours for my BAC to return to zero. I didn’t think it would take that long to go back down to zero. I thought after eating and sleeping for a few hours would be enough to take it back down to zero. The BAC level that is lethal to a person is .40. It takes 25 beers in an hour to get me to a 4.0. If I were in contact with a person who had alcohol poising I would dial an emergency number as soon as I saw the symptoms for poising. I did not know seltzer or tonic takes alcohol in the blood stream faster then a regular soda. I didn’t know my BAC would continue to rise 20-40 minutes after my last drink. I also didn’t know a 1.5 oz. Shot of liquor, a 5 oz. Glass of wine, and a 12 oz. Beer all have the same amount of alcohol.
