READ 6609Module 1 Discussion 2Goal setting is important for both students and teachers. Locke and Latham (2019) state, “Goal setting is a technique that, if properly implemented, works, and it works reliably to increase an individual and a team’s performance” (p. 94). I believe goals make things more organized and you specifically know what you are working towards completing. Typically in the classroom goals that are set are SMART goals. SMART goals are goals that are “specific, measurable, achievable/agreed-upon, realistic and time-based” (Day & Tosey, 2011, p. 517). I believe setting goals will help me reach the needs of the diverse learners in my classroom. SMART Goals:1.By September 30, 2020, I will develop alternative testing methods that will meet the needs of each learner in my classroom. 2.By August 31, 2020, I will use visual cues to help the ELL during instruction and testing.3.By September 30, 2020, I will have met with each student’s parents to discuss academic expectations and student needs.
