Have you ever been mistaken as a different ethnicity because of your skin color or by your physical
appearance? Well I have. I’ve realized that people tend to judge one another by their appearance and assume things
without actually knowing that person. This may bring a lot of problems to society because people can get offended
and cause problems. Since the beginning of time there has always been people that have had issues with a certain
race which is something that needs to come to an end. When it comes to race there is a lot to learn, a lot of truth to
find out, and a lot to share from my experiences.
In order to understand race and share personal experiences, one must know what race really is. According
to Chapter 15 notes Ethnicity and Race, race is, “A social construction based on visible characteristics assumed to
have a biological basis.” For example, some different races from all over the world include Asian, Hispanic, and
Caucassian. The idea of race has come a long way and is now in modern society used to distinguish people from one
another. The people of these different races have visible characteristics that identify them with others from the same
race. In addition, an example of visible characteristics and how they associate with race would be a person of Asian
race with smaller eyes as opposed to a Caucassain with larger eyes. The physical traits of a person have much to do
