Rohan Shah ID # 1388839 Music 101: Tuesday/Thursday 8:30 am Exam 2 Concert Report Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: Schuman and Shostakovich 03/22/08 I was close to sweating when I arriving at the ticket booth at 7:45, worrying whether or not there would still be tickets. Both me and my SA, who I invited because she was a music major and was considering interning at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, grabbed our 20 dollar tickets and ran for the balconies. Neither of us had seen any concert at the Atlanta Symphony Hall before, and we excited and expecting a fantastic performance. After settling in with the weekly viewers of the arts, and after all the instrumentalists had taken their seat and prepared their instruments, the conductor came out to a welcoming applause, and after bowing, he went to his podium and summoned a loud tuning note from the orchestra. Then, once settled, the show began. The first piece to be played was the Overture from The School for Scandal, written by Samuel Barber in 1931. A very exciting and dramatic piece, the Overture
