Achieving BalanceAs with each of the other aspects of this course, the goal of this section is to assist you in being anintentionalstudent. By definition, “intentional” means to act with purpose or to perform deliberately. Inregards to your role as an intentional student, this means that you can make intentional choices while beinga student, in class, during your social time, and throughout your undergraduate experience. As you work toward being an intentional student it is important that you look at how you are meeting yourgoals. In this course we have asked you to identify goals, provided you with a review of the topics ofleadership and followership, time management, diversity and communication, teamwork, and integrity.Stop at the end of each day to analyze how well you used it. If you wastedtime on things you didn’t need to, eliminate them tomorrow”.- BillGatesEach of us has the same 24 hours in a day. In these 24 hours there are a variety of activities from which youcan choose. Some of these activities are more worthy than others. How you choose to use this time isimportant to your mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Achieving balance in your life is a lifelongprocess that requires your daily attention. Consider this quote:“Balance is the mother of all practices, and it is never-ending. You continually find your balance, youdon’t achieve balance. Even if you were able to find your perfect balance and hold it, life itself willthrow you off balance continually. There is no state of motionlessness for a tightrope walker. It isconstant adjustment.”-Adam Khan, AuthorPersonal Leadership Plan2011_Fall_Achieving_Balance.pdf4© 2011 Indiana University
