The criminal justice discipline is unlike any other in many ways. How do you define ethics? In addition, discuss some of the foundational principles of the discipline and how they are interwoven with ethical principles and behavior. Ethics is a huge part of criminal justice because of the image that criminal justice personnel are supposed to uphold. Ethics is defined as “the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation, a set of moral principles, the principles of conduct governing an individual or a group” (Ethics, n.d.). That definition is very close to how I define ethics. To me, ethics are knowing what is right over wrong and doing what is right. With that being said, ethics are a huge part of law enforcement and every department should push good ethics in their personnel.
