Assembly Sponsor: Sarah Hong Senate Sponsor: Matthew Irwin Joint Bill 4: A BILL TO REMOVE COURTESY PHONE STATIONS WHEREAS, several years ago, ASUU installed “courtesy phones” as a way to serve the student population at the University of Utah, WHEREAS, the installation of these phones was prior to cell phones becoming ubiquitous for students, faculty, and staff, WHEREAS, over the years, ASUU has continued to pay for these phones, even with doubt of their usage, WHEREAS, in May 2020, the ASUU Finance Board conducted a study of the usage of these courtesy phones by contacting the billed locations to inquiry about their placement, usage, and recommendations from those who manage those phone areas about use utility of the phones remaining, WHEREAS, 19/31 of the locations were able to be contacted. The response rate for these questions was 42%, WHEREAS, of the respondents: - 37% were completely unaware of the existence of ASUU courtesy lines at their location.
