Jessica Marseille October 1,2013 Theatrical Review – Come and Go & Endgame Samuel Beckett is best known as one of the playwrights who partook in the Theatre of the Absurd. Absurdist fiction is meant to express the fact that human existence has not real meaning. We, the audience, can see this manifest when watching one of these plays. Many times, the words hold little weight and do not make sense to anyone seated in the audience. If Samuel Beckett’s main intention in these two plays was to confuse and mislead, then he accomplished it. It is said that Beckett did not want for anyone to even attempt to make sense of his plays and in honor of absurdist fiction I did no such thing. Beginning with Beckett’s Come and Go , there were three women seated on a bench with only a spotlight, they were apparently old friends who had a bit to gossip about each other. From what I could gather, in spite of the apparent hypocrisy, their friendship was still strong and made evident with the three-way hand holding. After watching the play I had nothing to review
