Vanessa, I would also suggest that the intern just let the client rant. From the video and what I read, Helen seems like she has little control over what happens in her life. She does everything for the family and may have had enough. A barrier of anger will stop anyone from listening (Geller & Greenberg, 2012). I don’t think there was anything that the intern could say to calm Helen down. Better to just ride out the storm and try to talk on the other side. My daughter used to play basketball and was very competitive. After particularly rough games, I would tell her she had one minute to say whatever she wanted however she wanted.
