Consider the data in Question 81, p. 139 (Chapter 3).
a)
What is the distribution of the random variable that represents the time between
successive arrivals and what is its expected value?
b)
What is the probability that fewer than 5 minutes elapse between successive
arrivals?
c)
Given that a small aircraft has just arrived, what is the probability that it will be at
least half an hour before the next small aircraft arrives.
d)
What is the probability that the time interval between two successive arrivals of
small aircraft is either less than 5 minutes or more than 10 minutes?
e)
Suppose half an hour has elapsed since the last small aircraft arrived and no other
small aircraft has arrived yet.
What is the probability that it will be at least
another half an hour before the next small aircraft arrival takes place?
