Creating and Analysing Graphs HA02-‐Graphing SPH4U Creating a Graph The following rules are things you should always keep in mind when graphing in Science class. Check with your teacher before you submit a graph to make sure your graph is satisfactory, every teacher has their own way of doing things! 1. Use a ruler and a sharp pencil 2. Check the range in values before graphing so that you can choose an appropriate scale for your graph. Make the graph big enough to read and do analysis on. 3. Label the axes and include the units for what you are graphing. 4. If appropriate include a title and a legend. 5. Remember neatness and accuracy in graphing will make your life easier when you have to analyse the graph. Analysing Graphs Most of the time in Science we are looking for trends or patterns in data that we are graphing. Therefore the most common way to analyse graphed data is to find a line of best fit . A line of best fit is a straight line that is as close as possible to all the data points.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
