WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT UNIT 22As examined in the discussion forum perception is what an individual think aboutreality and it is formed after steps that starts with stimuli and ends with interpretations to thosestimuli (Forming a Perception, 2018). So, the perception can project a wrong image of thereality which will affect our behavior and will definitely influence our attitude specially if somefactors such as stereotype, selective perception, halo effect are present. In this study we willinspect each factor and examine how our attitude, perceptions and behaviors are affected bythem.StereotypeStereotype can be defined as generalization of an idea or a belief about a group of people basedon single person in the same group (Mcleod 2015), in my opinion it is a very common factorthat might affect our perception. There are different kinds of stereotype: racial, gender orcultural which unconsciously affects our perceptions, behaviors and attitudes positively ornegatively.If we examine racial stereotype where prejudices are based on racial assumptions based oncolor which can be a barrier for someone to reach leadership position as his manager thinksthat this position can only fit a group of people because they are superior, unfortunately theseactions still happens nowadays simply because stereotype built a wrong perception and lead toa unappropriated behavior and attitude (Gray, 2014).Gender stereotype is one of the difficult challenges to shape and change in someone’sperception, which is basically related to men and women, for example it is known that womenare more organized at the workplace, men can do difficult tasks…etc. These well-known
