Bradford, Jacquary2/5/2021Prof.RostJuri-560Short essay 1In My DefenseSelf-DefenseIn my opinion, the most controversial Intentional tort defense is the self-defense claim. The reason that we have this defense is that we need to understand when a person has the right touse deadly force and also to establish how much force can be used. This defense-first that tort law used the word ‘reasonable’. There are 3 different definitions that tort law has defined as reasonable. One of them being “an actor is privileged to defend himself against another by force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily harm…” (Weaver, R., Martin, E., Klein, A., Zwier, P. and Bauman, J., n.d. Mastering tort law). The law grants us all the right to defend ourselves and our loved ones in certain situations. When the defense ends up causing persona; harm to the other person and they are trying to sue you but, now we have this law in place to justify one’s actions so that they will not be punished for protecting themselves and their family.
