In-Lab Exercise 0: Programming Languages INTRODUCION: This exercise uses HTML as a demonstration of some simple programming concepts. 1. Start DrJava and enter the following instructions. <html><head><title>My Test Page</title></head></html> 2. Save your file as MyTestPage.html and open it in Internet Explorer (IE). For example, after starting IE, you can click File-Open-Browse and locate your file. After opening your file, it should look similar to this, only larger: COMMENTS: The computer does not care too much about separating things on different lines, but the HTML code from #1 is hard for people to read. We will reformat it and add some text using the italics tag <i>. Remember from lecture that many HTML tags come in pairs with an opening tag and a closing tag. The effect or “scope” of such a tag is applied to only the text between the opening and closing tags, and nothing outside their scope. 3. Going back to DrJava, reformat the instructions as shown below, adding the additional instructions. If DrJava does not indent a line properly, add spaces to the beginning of the line.
