Brittney Harris Mr. Connell History 111 24 Jan. 2007 Weekly Assignment #2 Hammurabi, the King of Justice, creates a famous collection of codes. He tries to make everything equal with his new set of laws. There is a major contradiction in his proposal for equality. One question must be asked: If his laws are so equal why do they tend to favor the upper-class men? Hammurabi says, “My words are well weighed: my deeds have no equal, leveling the exalted, humbling the proud, and expelling the haughty.” This shows him trying to create equality by doing onto someone as they have done to another. His major fault was that he only included the higher social class of men in his proposal. The women, sons, daughters, peasants and servants do not get the same treatment. This is shown in multiple
