Unformatted text preview: Professional and Individual Code of Ethics of Chief Executive Officers Written by Communications 101 Student November 30, 2006 Doctor: As requested, enclosed is my report of Professional and Individual Code of Ethics for chief executive officers. I would like to thank you Dr. Stodola for helping me in the revision process as well as gather and organize thoughts. You helped me solidify my creative idea of combining professional and personal ethics into one solid argument. I would also like to thank Mr. Andy Blanchard for sitting down and discussing professional and personal ethics with me. In the following report one will find an explanation of the code of ethics of chief executive officers, along with an ethics list of professional and personal characteristics of CEOs. I have learned greatly about the world of chief executive officers as well as what their personal lives are guided by. Chief executive officers are not bound to a certain particular code of professional ethics, but more to their own personal ethics code. I have noticed that the world of chief executive officers goes mostly unchecked, with a plethora of power at their disposal, whom would ever know if they stole millions from the company? There is a need for a set code of ethics. CEOs should do the right thing, even when no one is looking (Blanchard). I suggest that the information found in my report be used to establish a set of guidelines for use in the CEO profession. I urge you the reader to take immediate action in establishing a set of ethical guidelines for chief executive officers. Special attention should be paid to the personal code of ethics portion of the following report because of the relationship between personal and professional code of ethics. I have included recommendations for those individuals whom have let their personal integrity fail them. Thank you for allowing me to investigate the code of ethics of chief executive officers. Feel free to contact me with any other questions.
