Use of the Armed Forces for Domestic Law Enforcement
The Armed Forces have been actively participating in law enforcement operations to
protect American citizens from security threats. The US Armed Forces consist of different
security agencies like the Coast Guard, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Army and the Marine
Corps (Merutka, 2013). The recent domestic law enforcement that the US Armed Forces was the
Washington D.C. police officer attack in May 2020. The attacking group attacked police officers
and federal agents Molotov, which caused security threat leading to the involvement of the
armed forces. The engagement of US armed forces in domestic law enforcement has helped to
enhance homeland domestic security.
Realm of Counterterrorism
In the United States, various security agencies perform key roles of intelligence
collection, sharing and combating security threats to protect America citizens. Over the past
decades, security agencies in enhancing homeland domestic and physical border security to
protect US citizens from security threats (Hughes, 2011). Besides, health agencies also have been
of significant help during security threats results from terrorist attacks. Generally, different
agencies usually participate in terrorist attacks to reduce fatalities. Below are the roles and
responsibilities performed by the three key agencies involved during security threats resulting in
terrorist activities.
