SMonday, March 17, 2008 Florida wants to have mail in vote, to re-do the primary. The Florida delegation says, “no” to senator. State law doesn’t allow for mail in elections. New York Governor Elliot Spietzer resigned from office because of a prostitution scandal. Number 9 on list. Also possibly involved in money laundering. Jeremiah Right-Barack Obama’s pastor who has very controversial sermons. Those who don’t know the difference between liberal and conservative scale and don’t understand the difference, REALLY don’t know. Not so much they don’t want to get it wrong but more they don’t know. Policy makers VS Average American 8% of people will give a wrong answer. Political Ideology -Someone’s view on how government should work. Tells where you stand relevant to others and other political views. Ideologies can inform what problems are in time periods. More than just view point, its more a coherent set of belief, values and opinions about government, politics, and public policy. Helps integrate new views and ideas that are coming with a new era. A process through which people learn political information, from political knowledge, and develop political values. Parents have a large impact of our own opinion. Over the life cycle it tends to hold. Agents of Socialization: Opinion Leaders, someone who you trust with regards to politics. Religion: Ones religious views could affect the political views of a person Leaders of the religion can affect the views School: High School teachers can be influential and can have a lot of influence on younger students. Media: News Media is affected, Fox News (Fair and Valid), there is always two sides of the story and it should be objective. Characteristics: Faith- Gender-Each gender see’s the world differently because each gender has certain issues that matter more to each other. Such as abortion or women’s rights, could possibly matter more to women then men. NOT always is this true. It’s not that the person of the other gender doesn’t care but they are coming from a different angle of the perspective. Salience Hypothesis-Sometimes it may matter more because they see it from a different point of view. Pop Culture-

Race/Ethnicity-Growing up white may be different than growing up being colored. This could affect their political views. Affirmative action can cause controversy based on if it has gone too far or if it hasn’t gone far enough. Difference purpose of sample and other biases.
